Hawaii Handled!

The in-laws invited all the "kids" to meet in Hawaii (Ko'Olina, Oahu) for a vacation.  We left Montana in the middle of a snow storm, and missed all sorts of horrible weather.  Phew!

While Montana was having arctic cold temps, and receiving feet of snow, we were having fun frolicking in the ocean, watching sun sets, eating delicious fish, poke, pineapple, enjoying fruity cocktails, admiring phenomenal scenery.  Our friends from Helena, Mike and Erin were also in Oahu, staying about 20 minutes away from our resort.  It was so fun to have them there.  They are surrogate family members.
Adios Bozeman!
 I made these cover ups!

We saw a lot and did a lot on this trip.  I also only missed one day of working out and ran some of my fastest miles.  We are pretty fortunate that we all get along the way we do, and can embark on these travels.  jaclyn and i created a hashtag for instagram for our trips: #teamrehmerhowardtravels  hopefully there will be more of these! :)

loving the new studio!

I am LOVING the new studio.  and with these arctic temps, the dogs are enjoying it too.  We have been doing obedience sessions in there, playing fetch, hide and seek, etc.  It is way too cold for them to be outside for more than several minutes.

Now that the studio is complete, i have jumped back on the training wagon and it feels GREAT!  I am a bit sore today, but in a good way.

Also, I am looking forward to making a few items to wear on our trip to hawaii.  I made a cute swimsuit so far, and beach cover up, and need to finish a cover up for sister in law... but I want to make some skirts and/or dresses.  I hate shorts so probably will skip those.  Any recommendations on tutorials online?

well off to work.  It is crazy that I simply sprint across the yard!! :)  In these temps, i am quite thankful i don't have to get in a frozen vehicle!

At last! Studio completed!!

I have been working out of a less than 400 square foot studio for just over ten years.  I would move the massage table, then roll in the reformer or bring out the free weights, etc.  Part of the deal with moving was that I would get a new studio.  So this summer, we moved from out of town, to the edge of town and to a house that had a giant shop in the back.  My husband has been working just about every spare minute since mid October to have this completed by the end of January.  We couldn't have done it without our dear friend, Mike, and my father in law, Larry and several other favors called in.  Walking around the studio, taking these photos this afternoon was surreal.  I still feel as though I have to go to that tiny studio... but I DON'T!!! :)  I have felt so lucky to be able to do something I love and make a decent living at it, especially in our small community.  Now to have the work space of my dreams is amazing.  Not gonna lie, I cried.  Even as I type, a lump is right there.  I don't want to be the girl crying during the superbowl, so here are some pics!
This new space is almost four times the size of my old studio.  I have the dedicated massage room, full bathroom with a shower, plus a separate entrance from house side of yard with a private hallway and utility room with washer/dryer/dog washing station.

I am so excited for the climbing wall--it was fun to knock the dust of my climbing shoes and goof off.  My husband constructed the doors himself.  He used re-claimed corrugated metal from an old lumber mill that he also used on lower part of wall and at the exterior entry.  The flooring is cork and it is warm and feels great to walk/jump around on it. We kept one of the garage doors and in the warmer weather it can be opened.

Now that this is completed, I am excited to get back to hitting the gym hard, especially since we are heading to Hawaii... After tonight's superbowl (go broncos!) I will hit the treadmill and do some #NTC! :)  Can't wait!

Finishing projects

I am finally finishing the pinwheel quilt for my cousin's baby (who is one) and i began it immediately after hearing she was pregnant.  I did a random free motion style quilting, but not in the traditional stippling fashion.  I was less concerned because I simply quilted the top to the batting and then am attaching minky for the back.  Minky is difficult (for me anyway) to quilt.  With the dots, or lines it seems to catch and/or not move as smoothly and this can result in uneven quilting.  Also, since it is for a baby, I figured the main goal was to adhere the top, less concerned with the actual design.
Upon surfing on Pinterest, I decided i liked the look of the rick rack peeking out at the edge, especially since I was not doing a binding.  This will still add a unique detail to the edges.
The Minky backing is so soft and cuddly for babies, and with the dots it is also cuter than just plain.  I need to launder and press since i was working on the floor and it is covered in cat hair.  Tubbs is also a huge fan of Amy Butler and Minky fabric!! :)

I hope my cousin and her daughter enjoy the quilt.  It was fun to make and now onto the next one.  I have some super fun Riley Blake fabric to work with for my aunt Kelly's baby girl, Charlee.

Happy New Year!

I hope eveyone had a wonderful Christmas and is looking forward to the New Year!  I have been having a great holiday.  The weekend before Christmas Sunny and I went to Big Sky for the second annual Tony Horton Weekend.  It was a blast.  I loved the workouts and it snowed the entire time we were up there.  If you have been following along, you know I was shocked last year to discover I loved Tony.  He has a great philosophy and is very approachable and inclusive to everyone.
It was fun to see some of the people from last year and to plan on seeing them again next!  Tony has several "nuggets" and my favorite is "Aging is for idiots."  Having just had a birthday, this one resonates with me.

I had only done one P90X workout with Sunny before we went to this event last year, and I haven't done any since, however I think I am going to invest in P90X3.  This weekends workouts were great.  It incorporated yoga, pilates, martial arts, balance, range of motion, endurance, flexibility, strength, isometrics.  It was fantastic!  We are already looking forward to next year!

We had Christmas at our new house.  It was mellow and quite enjoyable, with Ryan (aka: Sherpa) and the in-laws.  We had brunch, opened presents and then had resties and then had a dinner and played games.
Tubbs loves meal time... even ours!

The day after christmas is my BIRTHDAY!! :)  We went to Showdown and skied.  It was EXCELLENT!  the snow was amazing and it was sunny and warm.  Then we had a yahtzee tourney!!
Also, the new studio is really coming along.  It is quite exciting!  Hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of '13 and looking forward to '14!
